VOS was founded in 2015 under the name Malmö Live Vokalensemble by Sofia Söderberg, as an initiative within the Malmö Live Concert Hall. Since its inception, the choir has worked to expand its scope of activity, and since 2018, it has also entered into a collaboration with Lund Cathedral. This partnership began when the choir appointed a new conductor and artistic director, Robert Bennesh, who also serves as the cathedral organist at Lund Cathedral. The choir’s ambition to perform in diverse contexts led to a name change in the autumn of 2017 to VOS. VOS stands for Voices Of Scandinavia. The name reflects the choir’s vocal style—the pure and straightforward Scandinavian sound that has gained recognition in choral circles around the world.
VOS is a mixed choir consisting of 24 singers. The choir primarily focuses on a cappella music and continuously works to ensure that its sound remains versatile and adaptable across different genres.
